She studied stage and concert singing as well as opera at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. Early engagements took her to Oper Kiel, where she appeared in Judith Weir’s The Blonde Eckbert and as Consuelo in West Side Story, and to the Eutiner Festspiele. As a concert singer, she performed soprano parts in oratorios, with appearances at Hamburg’s St Michael’s Church and Laeiszhalle among other venues.

In musical theatre, she developed new forms of vocal expression alongside her classical soprano. Her early roles included Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz at the Nordharzer Städtebundtheater and Kiki in Flashdance at Staatstheater Darmstadt. For Stage Entertainment, she appeared as Deloris van Cartier and in the ensemble of Sister Act at Theater des Westens in Berlin, Rhein-Main-Theater in Niedernhausen and Deutsches Theater in Munich.

Further engagements included Anita in West Side Story at Theater Bonn and the Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall, where she also played Deloris van Cartier. She toured as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost – The Musical. At Theater Lüneburg, she portrayed Woman 2 in Songs for a New World, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and Polly Peachum in The Threepenny Opera.

Her more recent work includes Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray at Theater Bonn and Erma in Anything Goes at Staatsoper Hannover. Following her appearance as Joanne Jefferson in Rent, she returns to Theater Dortmund in the 2026/27 season as Edith Van Hopper in Rebecca. She previously played the role at the DomplatzOpenAir in Magdeburg. From October 2026, she also appears as Anita in West Side Story at Theater Hagen.

Alongside her theatre engagements, Amani Robinson performs as a soloist, including with the WDR Funkhausorchester in The Sound of Pride at the Kölner Philharmonie.
